Cat Street 摩囉街

Cat Street, also known as Mosque Street, is located between Lok Ku Road and Hollywood Road in Sheung Wan. It comprises Hollywood Road and Upper Lascar Row. Cat Street is famous and interesting place in selling the antiques and the old things.

Many years ago when I worked Sheung Wan area, I always went there frequently, because I am interesting in interesting old stuffs, certainly will be far from playing the antiques, but only bought some old watchs, old toys and some interesting old stuffs. However, I haven’t been there since I didn’t work in Sheung Wan area.

Recently, I re-visited the Cat Street and took some photographs there, I found that there has changed a lot already. Many old shops closed and changed to some other new shops, but I still met the “boss” some shop which I bought things from them before. Although I met them for only few times, but I just feel like meet some old friends again after years.

摩囉街是一個專賣古董及舊東西的有趣地方。它位於上環樂古道與荷李活道之間，分為摩囉上街和摩囉下街。很多年我在上環工作時，經常會去摩囉街逛逛，因為我對舊東西特別有興趣，當然談不上玩古董，只是買些舊錶，舊玩具和一些古怪的舊東西。但自從轉換工作地點後，就很少再行摩囉街了。

最近重遊摩囉街拍了些相片，與當年所見的摩囉街己經變化不少。有很多檔口與店子都變了，不過也有遇著幾個我幫襯過的店子及檔口老闆。雖然同他們只有幾面之緣，但多年後再見面卻有像見到老朋友的親切。

Graham Street Market Festival 嘉咸街街市節

I went to Sheung Wan to take photos with my friend recently. We were so lucky that to meet the date of the "Graham Street Market Festival". There have some raree-shows and the photographic exhibition, the market merchant also have good response to this activity. Actually, this kind of old-style open-air Street Markets are getting fewer and fewer in Hong Kong. The Graham Street Market also faces the destiny of dismantling. Did not know that such interesting "Graham Street Market Festival l" can be the last time?

早天我約影友去上環影相，剛巧遇著一年一度的"嘉咸街街市節"。有街頭表演和攝影展，街市商戶亦同心響應活動。其實，本港這類舊式露天市集己經愈來愈少，嘉咸街街市也面臨被清拆的命運。不知這樣的"嘉咸街街市節"會否是最後一次呢?
